Sea days - Nov 10 and 11

Woke this morning to much more pleasant conditions we seem to have left the storm behind.  The heat and humidity have returned.  It is 82 degrees; the water temperature is 82 degrees; and the humidity is 80%.  We are currently making our way towards the strait between Cuba and Haiti.

Cuba in the distance

Noon and we are just starting our way between Cuba and Haiti

10PM and we are now passing between Haiti and Jamaica.  The temperature remains a balmy 82 degrees - thank goodness for good air conditioning to help us sleep at night.  Some sunset shots from tonight.

 Nov 11
Another nice day, this morning we woke to 84-degree temp and calm seas.

Our room steward Gusti has been taking care of us well.  I made a list of things we would like in the room, extra towels, extra coffee, a bucket of ice, etc.  and they are always supplied to the room with no further asking.  He is so good at what he does, that last night when we were heading out to the buffet to get some food to have in the cabin overnight, in case my sugar levels dropped, he asked “where are you going?”, because he thought we had gone past our room.  Then, when we were returning with our pickings, he passed us in the hallway and asked again “where are you going now?” When we said “back to the room for the night” he pointed out that we had gone past the room about 20 rooms back.  Thank goodness he is looking out for us!!

There is no need to develop a formal exercise routine on the ship – I get a lot of walking going in the wrong direction just trying to find where I want to be.  I have done at least 2 complete circuits of the ship every day since we got on board just trying to find my way to my seat after perusing the buffet, there are so many stations.

We are well beyond all land and bout 350 miles to Cartagena, Columbia, our first port of call.  Today is going to be a lazy day.  We are debating what we will do in Cartagena tomorrow if anything.  It is a very early start to the day, and we must be back on board by 1:30. The temperature is supposed to be 104 degrees.  We are waffling between the Hop-on-Hop off the bus or just walking around the port, as there are coffee shops, small souvenir shops, and a bird sanctuary right there.

Supper tonight was interesting.  Bill ordered stuffed mushrooms as his appetizer.  Now, we all know that appetizers are supposed to be just small tastings to whet your appetite for the meal to follow.  Well, the stuffed mushrooms were the most bijoux appetizer I have ever seen!  There were two of them on the plate, and each was no more than the size of a quarter.  The lemon wedge that was served with them was larger than the two combined.  We were wishing we had had our camera with us.

We attended our first theater performance tonight – it was the 4th and final show of Footloose – it was very good and lasted about 1 1/2 hrs long which is bout twice the length of a normal presentation.  It was a late show starting at 10pm.
