Two sea days and no pictures

Nov 14
This morning we woke to heavily overcast skies with rain falling.  Once again, the generous overhang above our deck, came in very useful, as we could sit out and enjoy the weather without being in the thick of it.  The temperature has moderated, and we are about 78 degrees, but in the distance, we can see clearing skies.  We heard a couple of good claps of thunder as well.

It is very clear from his announcement this morning, that the Captain much prefers cruising on the open seas rather than winding his way through narrow channels for about 50 miles.  It must have been an intense 10 hours or so for him yesterday.  All the traffic channels were plotted throughout our journey, meaning that there was little room for navigational error, and sometimes we came very close to the shore.

We had a little visitor to our deck and into our room this morning.  I was sitting reading and a movement caught my eye.  It was a little yellow finch size bird, a little larger than our pine siskins, but similar coloration.  He explored a bit, checked out the balcony next door, then flew off.  We are approximately 20 miles off land.  We are also seeing more ocean birds, brown tern like ones, as well.

Awake to cloudy skies with a bit of rain falling but we are headed towards clearing skies.  The weather continues warm 78 degrees and is nice and comfortable to sit on the deck and read.  We watched some dolphins swimming near the ship this morning.  Our cabin is nicely situated under the pool deck so that we can enjoy the music from the various presentations without having our ears pierced by the deafening sound.

On our deck also is a lovely Observation Lounge, where we can go for a quiet respite, watch the view ahead and even grab a bite to eat if we want.

Today at 6 PM, we reached the halfway point in our cruise, both in days traveled and in actual miles traveled, 2565 miles of 5005 miles.  Tonight, we were treated to a dramatic lightening display off in the distance, with the occasional thunderclap heard.
